Throughout their term, Ambassadors will convene meetings and develop strategies with the NACHW Ambassador and Outreach Committee to support new member recruitment and act as an Ambassador of NACHW at select events for at least one year.
Ambassadors contribute to program development and share updates on outreach efforts in their own regions. We will continue to work together with this essential team to build NACHW! Below you can find the name and contact information for the 2023-2024 NACHW Ambassador near you!

Evelyn Martinez was born in East Los Angeles, California, to Mexican parents. She lived in California until the age of 12, then moved to Fremont, Nebraska, where she has resided since 1997. At that time, there were only five Hispanic families in the small town of Fremont, Nebraska. It was there that her true passion for community health work flourished, without her even realizing it could become an actual career.
As a Mexican-American child who spoke fluent English, Evelyn found herself accompanying community members to doctor visits, court dates, police stations, and much more, to translate and advocate for them. Now, 27 years later, with a family of her own and her immediate family, she still finds herself in the role of a Community Health Worker. The difference is that she now works for her local health department as the Lead Community Health Worker, serving three different counties.
She has really immersed herself in the community, gaining their trust, and has become their voice. Creating many partnerships with local agencies that serve the counties, they are becoming a strong support for the community members.
