Respecting, Protecting, and Partnering with CHWs for Lasting Impact.

Impact Report: 2019-2025

Since its founding in 2019, NACHW has advanced a bold vision to unify CHWs across geography, ethnicity, sector and experience to support communities to achieve health, equity and social justice.

From local communities to state systems and federal policy spaces, NACHW has helped elevate the voices and leadership of CHWs while building momentum for stronger recognition, intentional investment, and increased sustainability. While there is still much more work ahead, this impact report reflects the incredible progress made through 2025 by a small but mighty team working in close collaboration with funders, partners, researchers, and, most importantly, CHWs and CHW leaders across the country.

Together, these efforts have produced meaningful accomplishments that demonstrate NACHW’s growing reach and influence. From a handful of engaged members, NACHW membership now includes all 50 states and territories. After months of input and strategy,  the Six Pillars of Community Health Workers was created as a cornerstone of CHW identity. Efforts by an engaged Policy Committee and partners had led to CHW policy development such as Medicare payment pathways. NACHW has also brought CHWs and allies to Capitol Hill to advocate for the workforce, published reports designed to strengthen public health and ensure CHW sustainability, and launched a first-of-its-kind CHW social platform to support connection, learning, and collective action nationwide.
