Webinar: Community Health Workers Advancing Racial Equity & Violence Prevention (APHA CHW Section Policy Proposal)

This webinar will provide an overview of policy proposals designed to advance the CHW profession in racial equity and violence prevention and examples of specific models.  Honoring Dr. Paul Farmer, founder of PIH. 

The development of policy proposals will be done through a participatory process, and next steps for implementation and endorsement of CHWs on state / national level in racial equity and violence prevention interventions will be discussed.

  • Understand the value of Dr. Paul Farmer for grass roots model of CHWs and influence for policy proposal
  • Describe participatory process for development of policy proposal among national and state CHWs and CHW allies
  • Describe the history and roles  of CHWs working within racial equity and violence prevention
  • Describe term around Historically Oppressed Population and Others Experiencing Inequities (HOPEIs)
  • Discuss policy proposal frameworks / CHW models and EBPs (STRYVE, CHW REAs as APHA Racial Equity workshop, REACH, CDC program) 
  • Discuss actions steps across the social ecological model
  • Discuss external endorsements for policy proposal
